Program Structure/Sample Schedule
July 1-August 31:
- Master of Public Health (MPH) Summer Session
September 1-May 15:
- Fall and Spring semesters of the MPH with MPH Practicum requirement typically completed at the New Haven Health Department
May 15-June 30:
- Preventive Medicine Practicum Rotations
Continuity primary care throughout the academic year
1 month of vacation that coincides with the YSPH vacation periods (taken in 2 week blocks)
Year 2: Practicum Phase at various training sites
July 1st-June 30th:
- 12 blocks of Preventive Medicine Practicum Rotations
- Continuity primary care throughout the academic year
- 1 block of vacation (taken in 2 week blocks)
a. Residents must have completed at least one clinical year at an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited Residency Program prior to joining our Residency Program.
How to Apply
The Advanced PM Residency Program accepts one resident per year. Advanced PM residents match to the Residency Program through Standard Application Process (SAP ), administered by the American College of Preventive Medicine. Please visit the website and read these FAQs for Applicants. The SAP offer date is in January of each academic year.
Applications can submitted through ERAS or if you are not on the ERAS system, send your application and supporting documents to our Program Coordinator, Margie Bliga, MBliga@Griffinhealth.org and Assistant Program Coordinator, Monica Sanchez, MSanchez@Griffinhealth.org. What you need to apply:
- GH Advanced Preventive Medicine Residency Program Application Form
- Three letters of recommendation + Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) – We ask that the LORs include a summary of your activities and interest in Preventive Medicine/Public Health
- Personal Statement
- Curriculum Vitae
- Medical School Diploma
- USMLE Scores
- ECFMG Certificate
