A Message from the Program Director

Welcome to the Griffin Hospital Combined Internal Medicine–Preventive Medicine/MPH Program and the Preventive Medicine/MPH Program. We are delighted that you are considering joining our community of learners dedicated to advancing health at both the individual and population levels.

Our programs offer a unique blend of clinical excellence and public health leadership. Through rigorous training in internal medicine and preventive medicine, complemented by a Master of Public Health degree, you will gain the skills to address complex health challenges, improve patient outcomes, and lead initiatives that promote equity and well-being across diverse populations.

Through innovative curricula, we aim to foster individual growth and leadership opportunities, teach clinical and academic expertise, and develop administrative, research, teaching, and mentoring skills. This unique experience is enriched by partnerships with leading institutions, including the Yale School of Public Health, Yale School of Medicine, Yale Cancer Center, Connecticut Department of Public Health, New Haven Health Department, SUNY Downstate/New York Institute for All Hazard Preparedness, and the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine in Boston.

Griffin Hospital is proud to be the headquarters of Planetree, Inc., a global leader in patient-centered care, and home to the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center. As an Accountable Care Organization through the Value Care Alliance, we provide residents with hands-on experience in population health management and addressing social determinants of health.

Our curriculum includes training in hospitals and clinics at and around Griffin, as well as electives at multiple U.S. locations, ensuring a high standard of education that prepares residents to become competent, well-rounded physician leaders in medicine and public health. We pride ourselves on personalized mentorship—each resident is paired with physician advisors who guide their growth throughout the program.
